Keeping your bathroom clean can seem like a daunting task to some. With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, few of us have the time to give their bathroom a deep cleaning. No matter how busy life gets, there are things you can do every day to keep your bathroom clean. Spending about 5 minutes every day can make a big difference in keeping your bathroom clean and tidy. Below are a few tips to help you.

Keep It Tidy

This may sound obvious, but simply cleaning up after yourself can make a world of difference. Keep surfaces clear by putting away hair dryers, hair products, combs/brushes or any dirty towels or clothes that may be cluttered around. Keep toiletries like toilet paper, paper towels or tissues stocked regularly. Periodically empty your waste basket so it does not start overflowing.

Use a Tray for Hair and Cosmetic Products

If you keep your hair and/or cosmetic products on your vanity top, use a tray underneath the products to protect damage to the vanity.  Most people use a small piece of glass with rubber bumpers on the bottom.  When this area needs cleaned, it is easier to clean or even replace the tray than it is to fix damage to the vanity underneath the products.  This method also prevents etch marks if your vanity is made out of marble.

Clean your Surfaces

Wiping off your surfaces everyday can prevent the need for professional cleaning down the road. Keep a container of rags and some all-purpose cleaner under your sink at all times. For daily vanity cleaning, we recommend DuPont Revitalizer or another type of neutral cleaner. You can purchase Dupont Revitalizer as well as other cleaning products through our website. Quickly wiping down your bathroom surfaces for a few minutes every day will help to maintain a clean bathroom and will prevent dirt buildup over time.

Keeping your Shower Clean

After showering, use a squeegee or rags to remove standing water on all surfaces (walls, floor, seat and glass).  Spray and wipe down your shower area with a high alkaline cleaner on a weekly basis to prevent soap scum buildup. Make sure to rinse off the surfaces very well.  As you see mold and mildew appear, use a bleach solution (25% bleach, with 75% water) to kill the mold and mildew.

Clean your Mirror and Shower Glass

Keeping your mirror and shower glass clean can be a challenge. Luckily, with a little bit of daily maintenance your mirror and glass can stay sparkling. Keep some glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth on hand at all times. Daily cleaning will ensure that any water spots or toothpaste stains do not sit for an extended period of time, possibly creating permanent damage.

On the shower glass, you want to make sure you squeegee off the glass every day.  The glass should be wiped down at least once a week to get off calcium buildup on the surface.  We recommend a high alkaline cleaner for this.  To protect your mirror and glass, you can actually apply a hydrophobic coating, like Rain X.  Just like in your car, this prevents any type of contaminants (like the minerals in your water) from sticking to the glass.  This can be re-applied once per month.

After setting aside about five minutes every day for these tasks, you will start noticing a big difference in your bathroom.
