• This job is manual labor.
• There are times during your job that you will need to operate a hand machine. This hand machine is used to polish boats. This requires that you are comfortable on your knees. We do have a full line of knee pads to utilize if so desired. If you have had problems with your knees in the past, then this is probably not the job for you.
• GK’s reputation has been built on the quality of work performed for customers. Our employees strive for and produce the highest quality details that our customers have come to expect. Therefore, employees need to be responsible, reliable and attentive to a high level of work quality.
• Boat detailing work is usually performed outside during the spring, summer and fall and then inside during the winter. During the spring and fall months temperatures can drop to 40 degrees. During the summer months temperatures can rise to 95 or so degrees. Being ok with the temperature swings is necessary for this job. GK’s does provide all types of clothing for year-round.
• This position requires the use of a power washer as well.
• During the warmer months (about 5 months of the year), you will work offsite at one of the surrounding marinas detailing boats. Surrounding marinas can be anywhere from 10 minutes – 1 hour away from GK’s. Once at the marina, you will detail a boat (clean, polish and wax) and then return to the shop at the end of the day.
• GK’s also operates a weekly boat wash program, that you would be involved in.
• Boat detailing regularly requires employees to work on ladders and scaffolding to detail the hull and topsides of a boat. This work requires employees to sometimes be on a ladder and/or scaffolding. Employee must feel comfortable at working up to 15 feet on one of the above items.

• In addition to the job responsibilities of the Boat Detailer listed above, a Team Lead – Boat Detailer is also responsible for:
  • Running a team of 2-3 total Boat Detailers.
  • In charge of final quality control for each boat completed.
  • In charge of talking with boat owners.
  • In charge of stocking supplies for each job.
  • In charge of keeping van, truck (or) trailer neat and organized.
  • Providing updates to management on daily work completed.

• Monday – Friday: 7:00am / 8:00am – 5:00pm with a 1 hour lunch
• Hours per week range between 35 to 40+. During the busy seasons of the spring and fall, hours may increase to 50 hours
• There are several half Saturdays (mornings) during the fall and spring
• Part time hours are available upon request

• $19.00 per hour (Boat Detailer) with an automatic increase at 6 months to $19.50 as long as attendance requirements are met
• $22.00 per hour (Team Lead – Boat Detailer)
• Overall compensation per hour is higher when additional benefits are added, such as: healthcare, dental, PTO, Paid Holidays and 401k are added.
• Overtime is available.
• Average overall yearly compensation for a Team Lead – Boat Detailer is around $50,000
